Project report

Industrial Radio

Industrial Radio is a research project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Research and Development with the objective to create a reliable wireless communication by means of new radio technologies. The DKE, Deutsche Kommission Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik, has the leading role in the implementation. Project manager Alexander Bentkus brought INOSOFT as long-term partner on board for the IT aspects of the project.

The primary objective was to create possibilities for collaboration for the team members who are located in different organizations, departments and locations. Therefore, we have set up a collaboration platform basing on Microsoft SharePoint and developed a number of features that enable a smooth cooperation over long distances. This solution offers virtual team rooms for the members of the project team, own team sites, shared calendars, the possibility to work on the same document at the same time including versioning, authorization concepts, and facilitations thanks to automated workflows. The access is possible from everywhere via all devices currently on the market.

The second main task was the representation of the enterprise and the presentation of the project progress for the contracting authority and for the public. We have integrated a website into the platform explaining the project and the respective state of progress in detail. At www.industrial-radio.de all other project partners can publish articles, too. We have adapted this website for the use on mobile devices, too, so that there is no problem to read long editorial articles or to watch videos via iPhone, Windows Phone, Samsung devices and others.

We continually maintain and expand this platform according to the wishes of the client. Seen from an IT point of view, there is nothing to stand in the way of the success of Industrial Radio.
