For some they are the devil's plaything, for others they are indispensable tools for automating processes in Microsoft Office environments: Macros written in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Macros are quite practical, e.g. for automatically evaluating data in Excel tables. On the other hand, they can quickly become confusing, difficult to maintain and pose certain risks in terms of security. We talk about this tension in this episode.
