Twenty-five years ago, we developed a tool for Heidelberger Druckmaschinen that handles the fully automated installation of all components on a PC. The amazing thing is this: Windows XP, the hardware, half the surrounding environment—everything has been replaced over the years, yet this automation system is still running today. The hackers didn’t have to crack a single password—they simply asked Meta’s AI support to change the email addresses associated with other people's Instagram accounts, and the bot did it. Over 20,000 accounts were affected, including the White House's account; there was simply no provision for human intervention. In WeeklyTalk, we use this and other cases to show how the old help desk trick becomes a new vulnerability as soon as an AI is allowed to act independently.

Every now and then, we notice that companies strictly restrict access to Microsoft Copilot—while at the same time recommending GitLab Duo, with its integrated LLMs, for unrestricted use in code development. This asymmetry raises issues such as confidentiality agreements with providers and the question of who actually controls what information is shared externally. We debunk the myth that “AI learns everything” – and highlight where the risks lie.
